Annette Toivonen is a tourism professional having worked globally for the industry over a decade in diverse management positions. She is currently finalizing her world pioneering PhD thesis in sustainable space tourism in the University of Lapland, Finland. She has also gained both BA (Hons.) and M.Sc in Tourism Research and holds a teachers pedagogical qualification.

Annette has been a guest speaker in different conferences and panels, such ATLAS conference 2019, British-Estonian Chamber of Commerce event 2019 and Finnish Travel Fair 2020, providing an insight to the sustainable future of space tourism industry. In 2019, she launched the world´s first sustainable space tourism course in Haaga-Helia university of applied sciences (Finland) based on her academic findings and is to publish her own book “Sustainable Space Tourism – An Introduction” by the end of this year in the United Kingdom (Channel View publications). She is also a co-writer in one of the “Future of Tourism” book series books, to be published (Channel View publications) in the United Kingdom in the summer 2020.
